Maqbool Khawaja completed his Masters in Physiology in 1981 and brings over 30 years of coaching/research experience along with being one of the very few coaches in the world who specializes in the training and development of very young children (3 years onwards) in the sport of squash.
He began his coaching career in the mid 1980’s researching the impact of his theories in the fields of sports physiology, bio-mechanics, Rapid Learning Mechanisms in Children and nutrition pertaining to squash.
In 1989 Khawaja shattered the myth that a sport as strenuous as squash can not be taught to children as young as 3 years of age when his 5 years old nephew, Mohammed Ali of Pakistan, won the UAE Under 9 Title in Abu Dhabi beating players several years older than himself, a feat that was later also accomplished by his son, Adil Maqbool, at the age of 4 and a half.
His international experience ranges from working with young and dynamic individuals to those with extreme physiological and physical challenges.
For the last decade and a half Khawaja has frequently conducted professional squash clinics along with World No. 66 and UAE Number 1, Adil Maqbool, in various countries such as the United Kingdom, USA, Canada, Malaysia, Egypt and the UAE.
He has previously also held the position of Head Squash Pro at various executive clubs such as the Hiltonia Beach Club (Abu Dhabi), Abu Dhabi Marina Club (Abu Dhabi), The Marbella (Sharjah), Ajman Marina Club (Ajman), Sofitel City Centre Club (Dubai), and is currently based at the Al Murooj Rotana in Dubai.
Khawaja currently conducts a number of programs at the Al Marooj Rotana, Dubai, which include:
> Private and Semi-private coaching for amateur and professional players.
> Group Squash Coaching/Physical Training.
> Junior and Senior Clinics.
The private, semi-private and group lessons can be booked 6 days a week
at Al Marooj Rotana, Dubai, and the clinics two to three times a week.
